Students achieving Crest Gold Award for their projects as part of Engineering Education Scheme Wales

Royal Society of Chemists Olympiad

In January, 18 brave chemists took part in the Royal Society of Chemistry's Olympiad. All had a good go and 5 gained medals.

Virtual Rickshaw Challenge

Sixth form Virtual Rickshaw challenge to support Ben Hughes who was riding for the one show. Immerse Fitness loaned the bikes. Students completed 793 miles over 3 days and helped raise money for Children in Need.

Rememberance Day 2017

2 representatives from school council laid a wreath at the cenotaph on behalf of all staff and pupils in the school.

Faraday Challenge

The school recently hosted the Faraday challenge, run by the institute of engineering and technology. This saw 36 pupils from our school and three others compete to win amazon vouchers and the chance to go through to the final.

Australian Visitors

Alun School hosted 5 teachers from Australia on a visit funded by Rotary International. The teachers visited Alun School to find out about our inclusive practices and our transition activities
The team said:
" the school's passion for its students was clear and a highlight of the visit was hearing from the school council".

GCSE Results

Members of the Engineering Education Scheme Wales Team who worked with Airbus to design a venturi tube. This is a device for preventing blockages in concentric drills, which are used in the manufacture of wings at Airbus. The team won the prize for ‘Best Overall Report’ at the EESW North Wales Finals day, and have been invited to represent North Wales at the Big Bang VK Young Scientists and Engineers Competition 2017/18 at the NEC in Birmingham.
